Steel toys work well
THERE is some great news for owners of parrots that destroy every toy they
can get their beaks on…including toys marked “indestructible”.
There is a new rage of stainless steel toys from the Frasier group, whose
slogan is Toys for parrots who like
to screw around! The slogan comes from the nuts, bolts and screws that
make up great new foraging toys.
Talk about heavy duty. These toys
are indestructible and I have tested them on the best demolition duo, my
greenwing and blue and gold macaws.
They are really easy
to clean and can be scrubbed if need be or put in the dishwasher without
fear of rusting.
Many are foraging
toys, so your parrot has to work to get the treats from inside them by
unscrewing the nuts, which can occupy their time and give them brain food
in the way of challenges.
There is a really
great range of foraging toys for large, heavy duty parrots such as macaws
and cockatoos, such as the Busy Box (a combination of a lot of toys, all
in one), Giant Play Box, Goodie Gadget and Play Rings, but there is also a
range for medium size parrots such as the Play Box and Treasure Chest,
while smaller parrots can get many hours of enjoyment from the Spinner.
I have used these
toys for months now and no matter how much my guys give them a battering,
they still look as good as the day I bought them and through the time my
guys spend interacting with them I can see they really enjoy them.
They are not cheap
but because they are heavy duty stainless steel they are going to last for
many years.
I feel they are well
worth it and consider them the best range of indestructible toys on the
market.
Rio and Cuba give
these toys a 6-perch rating — the highest in their 1-6 range.
