Testing Bird Cage Paint
for Lead and/or Zinc
If you do not know the
origin of your bird cage, we recommend getting a toxicology report to
ensure the lead levels and zinc levels are within a safe range for your
bird.
For your convenience, below
you will find a United States certified laboratory. We will add more to
this list as time permits.
It's easy to have your paint tested. Just find a clean sheet of white
paper. Scrape about a dime to a quarter size sampling onto the white paper.
The sample does not need to be one continuous piece of paint. It can be many
flakes as long as you provide at least a dime size sampling. Be sure to scrape an area of your cage that won't become a future eye sore.
Fold the paper and place in
a plastic bag.

(in the form of a check or money order) with
the form. You should have the results in 7 to 10 days. We recommend
testing for both lead and zinc. The total cost will be around $50.00.
